World War II was a defining moment in world history.  It was the greatest and by far the most destructive conflict mankind has seen.  More than sixty countries took part in the battles which were fought on every continent, on land, on sea, and in the air.  Over 55 million people died, millions were wounded, and the lives of millions more were affected during and after the war.

Basically, World War II was a six-year long nightmare.

It's far-reaching consequences will continue to shape our future for year to come.
